Forward the mail. Goodshed takes it from there.

Point the mailbox your customers already write to at one address. Every message is read, sorted into what it is and written up as a one-line task, and quote requests become drafts before anyone opens them.

Your shared mailbox, already read.

The list says what each message is and what it asks for. The reading pane says what Goodshed did with it and what is left for you. Nothing is hidden behind a status.

The task in one line

Goodshed writes what the message asks you to do — “Enter order PO 44871 for Pine Street Electrical — 6 lines” — with a short summary, the next step, and the facts you would otherwise re-read the email for: PO numbers, ship-to, need-by, contact. It only writes what the message states.

Quote requests become drafts

A quote request goes straight to the Quote Desk: every line read, resolved against your catalog, and flagged when it needs a person. By the time a rep opens the message, the draft is waiting with its counts — lines, resolved, review, unresolved.

Five agents read the inbox. Your team keeps every decision.

Each kind of message has an owner. Each owner says what it does, and what stays with your team — so the screen never implies work that is not happening.

“Can you send something over for the Elm St. job?” — no list attached.

Treat as a quote requestMark doneNeeds nothing
  • Says what it is, who it is from, what it refers to, and writes the task in one line. Hands it to the agent that owns that kind of work. Stays with your team: anything it cannot place is yours to name — one click turns it into a quote request.

  • Reads every line, resolves it against your catalog, drafts the quote, and flags the lines it is not sure about. Stays with your team: a named person reviews the flagged lines and approves every quote. Nothing goes to a customer on its own.

  • Pulls the PO number, the lines and quantities, the ship-to and the need-by into the task so nothing has to be re-read. Stays with your team: entering the order in your ERP.

  • States exactly what the customer wants to know, with any order or invoice numbers it found. Stays with your team: the answer, sent from your own mailbox.

  • Recognises it, pulls out the references, and routes it to the right desk. An emailed catalog export becomes a catalog import. Stays with your team: matching and posting.

Goodshed does not enter orders, post invoices or answer customers today. Those messages are sorted, summarized and routed to your team, with the facts pulled out so nobody has to open the email twice.

The small things a shared mailbox gets wrong.

The work of an inbox is mostly edge cases. These are handled on purpose.

Attachments are read with the email

Up to 8 files per email, 10 MB each: Excel, CSV, text, forwarded .eml, PDF and photos (PNG, JPEG, WebP). Takeoffs, BOMs and a phone photo of a handwritten list all count.

A file it cannot keep is named

An attachment of a type Goodshed does not read, or one too large, is written on the message with the reason — never dropped without a word.

Same delivery — already in the inbox

Duplicates are recognized

If the same delivery arrives twice, it becomes one message, not two. If fetching a message fails partway, the mail provider delivers it again and it is read then.

Reading this message stopped before it finished, so nothing was decided about it.

Read it again

A stopped reading can run again

If reading a message is cut off before it finishes, the message says so plainly and offers “Read it again”, or lets you decide what it is yourself.

Questions about the inbox

How do we connect our mailbox?
Add a forwarding rule or a redirect from the mailbox your customers write to — Gmail, Outlook and Microsoft 365, and Exchange shared mailboxes all support it — pointing at your workspace’s intake address. If Gmail sends a confirmation code, that email shows up in the inbox as a message, so you can read the code there. Record the address you forward from and it is shown at the top of the inbox.
Do our customers have to change anything?
No. They keep writing to the same address. Forwarding happens on your side.
What does Goodshed do with purchase orders, invoices and other mail?
It recognizes them, writes the task and the facts a person needs — PO numbers, ship-to, need-by, references — and routes them to your team. It does not enter orders, post invoices or answer customers today; those stay with your team.
What if it sorts a message wrong?
Anything unclear is marked “Other” with low confidence and left for a person, and anything that could be a quote request is treated as one. On any message a rep can choose “Treat as a quote request”, “Mark done” or “Needs nothing”, and reopen it later.
Does it read inside the attachments?
Sorting uses the subject, the body, the sender and the attachment names. Once a message is a quote request, the attachments themselves are read line by line to build the draft.
Can Goodshed reply to customers?
Not yet. Replying through your own mailbox is not built, so answers go out from your email client as they do today. Nothing is sent to a customer by Goodshed.
Can other systems add messages?
Yes. A request sent to the API lands in the same inbox as forwarded mail and is read the same way. See Integrations & API
