Quote Desk
A draft quote with every decision explained.
Goodshed reads the contractor’s list, matches each line to your catalog and writes down why. Your rep reviews the handful of lines that need judgment, approves the draft, and quotes it from your own system.
One request. Every line decided, or honestly left open.
This is RQ-0142: an ABC Electric list for Lakeview Hospital Ph 2, forwarded to the inbox at 7:12 in the morning. Seven lines are matched and explained. Two are waiting for a person, and they say why.

Illustrative data, and it works: open a line to see its shortlist, decide it, then approve the draft.
- 01
The customer’s words
Every line keeps the quantity, unit and wording exactly as the contractor sent them — “4S COVERS — SAME AS HOSPITAL” stays “4S COVERS — SAME AS HOSPITAL”.
- 02
What was read
Gauge, insulation, color, amps, poles, trade size, conduit type and more, pulled out as chips so you can see what Goodshed understood.
- 03
The item, price and stock
The catalog item it chose, with your price and the quantity on hand from your own catalog export.
- 04
Status, confidence, reason
Resolved, Review or Unresolved; a High, Medium or Low confidence; and one or two sentences saying why.
Built for the rep who has to stand behind the quote.
A draft is only useful if you can check it quickly. Everything on the desk is arranged so the question “why this item?” has an answer on the screen.
Every line shows its work
The customer’s words, the attributes read from them, the chosen item with price and stock, and a written reason — side by side. The line also says who decided: an exact part number, your team’s earlier choice, a pick from the catalog shortlist, or a person.
Open a line to see what else was close
Each line expands to the shortlist it was chosen from — up to ten catalog items — with the attributes that agree in green and the ones that conflict in amber. Pick a different one with “Use this item”, or search the whole catalog with “Find another item”.
Some lines always wait for a person
“Or equal”, “same as last job”, a request in feet against an item sold by the each, or a conflict on gauge, amps, poles, trade size or kVA: these land in Review with the reason spelled out, so no substitution goes through quietly.
Approve, then quote it where you already quote
Approving locks the draft. Export it as CSV or Excel to build the quote in your own system, or let a signed webhook (request.approved) hand it over. Goodshed never sends anything to your customer.
Four tabs and a search. That’s the whole desk.
Working a request takes four tabs and a search. Start in Review, check the source when something looks odd, and search the catalog for anything the shortlist missed.
The tab a rep opens first. It holds just the lines in Review or Unresolved, each with its reason and confidence, and the three decisions a rep makes: use an item, flag it for review, or mark it unresolved.
Every line in order with its quantity, unit, chosen item, status and confidence. Resolved lines are here too, so you can spot-check anything before you approve.
The original email and its files, next to the text Goodshed extracted from them. When a line looks strange, you can see whether the contractor wrote it that way.
An audit trail for the request: when it opened, how many lines were read and resolved, every line a person decided, approvals, reopens and re-runs, and each delivery to a connected system.
When nothing on the shortlist is right, search your catalog from the line and choose “Use for line”. The line records that a person chose it.
The details that make a draft trustworthy.
Small rules, applied the same way on every request.
Three statuses, no grey areas
Resolved means an item is chosen and nothing argues with it. Review means a person should look. Unresolved means nothing in your catalog fits well enough, and the line says so instead of guessing.
Confidence is its own column
High, Medium or Low — never a percentage. A GFCI line can be High confidence and still sit in Review, because the customer allowed an equal and that is a person’s call.
It says who decided
Part number, your team before, chosen from the shortlist, or a person. You always know whether a line came from an exact match, from memory, from the AI or from a colleague.
Approved drafts are locked
Once a draft is approved its lines can’t change. If something needs fixing, reopen it — the reopen is recorded in Activity like everything else.
A stopped run says so
If reading a request stops partway, the request is flagged rather than left half-finished. Choose “Run again” to read it from the start.
Exports that are safe to open
CSV and Excel with one row per line: quantity, unit, the customer’s words, status, confidence, item, price and reason. Cells that start like a formula are written as plain text.
